Description
The Victorian Desalination Project represents one of the most significant water industry PPP projects undertaken in Australia. With annual production of up to 150 GL, this will be the largest seawater desalination plant in Australia. The project includes intake and outfall tunnels, a seawater lift pump station, pre-treatment and reverse osmosis treatment, clear water storage, and an 84 km pumped transmission system.
Role
Both Nick Read and Paul Gaughan were seconded into the PBBeca Design JV team. Nick took the role of Discipline Lead for process team during the detailed engineering phase, leading a team drawn from a number of companies engaged in the process design for the plant and treated water transfer system. Paul coordinated the review procedures for the 3D models, which aided the design development and facilitated implementation of staged review and feedback from internal stakeholders.
