Altona Recycled Water Project
Client
City West Water
Location
Altona, Victoria
Date
2010
Description
City West Water’s Altona Recycled Water Project will supply up to 9 ML/d of recycled water at two quality levels – one for industrial use at a nearby factory, and the other for irrigation use at various golf courses, council land and reserves. The project will save up to 3,000 ML per year of potable water. The project is being delivered under a series of individual contracts: traditional delivery for feed and product water tanks and pipelines, a DBO for the recycled water plant itself, and a services contract for integration of SCADA across the scheme and into CWW’s control centre.
Role
City West Water engaged RGPL to undertake a “Gap Analysis” study of the project’s technical components and delivery mechanism in order to identify any issues which might impact construction, commissioning or successful operation of the scheme once completed. The study was undertaken with the assistance of EDTC Services to cover SCADA and controls issues, and many of the recommendations were implemented prior to and during the testing and commissioning phases.
