Description
Changi WRP is the largest wastewater treatment plant in Singapore. Most of the 800 ML/d facility is situated underground and some of the process units stacked to reduce footprint. The project was a traditional design-tender-construct delivery involving 22 construction and equipment contracts. The project boasts many innovative features, and was fully designed and modeled in 4D; the model contains all attributes of the various components and forms an integral part of the O&M and asset management systems. CH2M HILL and CPG Consultants were the design consultants and provided construction management for the project.
Role
Working for CH2MHILL at the time, Nick Read led the the tender documentation preparation for the solids processing facility which included some innovative processes and one the the largest thermal drying installations in the world. He participated in the evaluation and negotiation of tenders for the major equipment, and provided input to the construction management team, including further inputs on the drying system. Later, Nick was involved in preparing management plans for the post-commissioning transitional operations phase of the project, which required developing systems for coordinating activities of numerous mechanical and electrical contractors whose scope extended to operations and maintenance, and the transitional handover to the Owner.
